I didn't like the start to the game, but I thought they got better as the first went on and played a pretty good road game against a top western team. Hiller is starting to let in a few stinkers, I think they need to go back to the rotation they had to start the season

"Having now dropped their past 19 games against the Ducks, Calgary has been unable to find any success against this Western Conference powerhouse"

Calgary bet them last week in a SO

On a side note to last nights game it was nice to see Baerstchi have some push on the forecheck in the 3rd period and it seem to me that on the shift that had him take the offsetting minor penalty with Perry was kind of a turning point in the 3rd.

Thank you for the blog Colin!

These third periods are getting exciting! And how about the play between Giordano and Perry all night? It was reminding me of the games when Brown and Gio would match up against eachother. That's huge when your captain plays like that to show his team there's no reason to be intimidated, because that's what it looked like from the start of the game. Glad they had the pushback they did, but Jooris is right about the team needing to play like that all the time and not just the third period.

Anaheim are a very big & very good team, a little miffed at losing in Calgary & I think they were part of the reason for the slow start. Still, what a great 3rd period. This team has some real good pieces but no one said we were to be a Cup contender this year. Sven had a real good game, noticed he was getting extra ice time with Johnny in the 3rd. That 3rd Anaheim goal was kind of lame. A 2-0 lead isn't enough against us, too bad. Their first goal was lucky. Cant complain, we have had some good bounces too this year. Bottom line, we are going to win games if we keep playing like last night. Would like to see a little more urgency earlier in the game but I am not disappointed.

Good blog Colin.

I went to sleep at the end of the 2nd (midnight my time) and missed the 3rd

Although the Flames are smaller team and were physically manhandled at times, some of the smaller guys like Byron were sticking up for their team mates! Shows team unity.

Good to see they made the game interesting in the 3rd. Need to stop playing from behind all the time, oh and Furland needs to keep his head up.

I agree. Looking at the numbers Hiller immediately dropped off when he was given the reigns, and Ramo's still playing well. Get back to the alternate starts system. Give each guy time between starts, but not so much that they get rusty and I think we're golden.

Yeah, that 3rd goal looked a little soft to me. Hiller wasn't letting those in when he was still battling for the starting job.

Also, good on Russell for fighting Kesler... I just wish he would have been able to land a good one. Kesler needs a solid shot to the nose.

I still think overall hiller has been better but maybe even do a 2/1 or 3/1 split. I Understand why Hartley was sticking with hiller while he was hot, but his hot streak is over. Ramo should get the nod tonight I'm assuming

I thought the Flames played pretty decent from about the 10 minute mark of the first period on...too bad they fell behind 2-0 and that 3rd goal really stacked the odds against them.

Good to see the push back though, this team is definitely different than years past. They will be in tough tonight but I've got a good feeling about this one

Thanks for the blog Colin. Sorry if we were being wieners waiting for the new one. Never forget we will always love you

What a female genitalia Kesler is....while they were fighting I was wondering what started it, then the replay showed Kesler actually asked Russell to go. What a sissy!!!

Ramo still hasn't had two starts in a row yet this season. Last year, he didn't really take off until his workload increased. Maybe let's try it. The last two games Hiller has played in, the GWG has been a softy.

I like me some Hiller in short bursts. It seems like he's a guy who's built for international tournaments. Just play at the top of your game for 5 games, and it's over. I think we should ride Ramo all the way to the SCF, then switch to Hiller for the finals.

I typed this before I had my coffee.

Who is going to be sent down? I hear Jones is back. My guess is Knight.

Setto needs 24 hrs to clear waivers.

I think Knight's the odd guy out.

I'd love to see Seto waived though. And Engelland needs to spend some time in the press box... for a guy that's supposed to bring muscle to the back end, he sure got overpowered by 5'11" Kyle Palmieri on that third goal.

Well we beat the Ducks last week, just haven't managed to win AT the Honda Center, tonight should be a great battle. I just wish we could hear more on the return of players from IR...

You know what I'd actually love to see?

A Baertschi - Monahan - Gaudreau line for a couple of games...

I love Bouma, but he's not a top line winger, and Baertschi's completely wasted on the 4th line.

Agreed....give him a shot for a game or at least a couple periods. Bouma is not a first liner even though I love the guy!

I wonder if Colin, being a leafs fan, has finally lost interest in Hockey?
- Mr.Pink

You honestly thought he ever gave a fiddlers fck about the Flames???

Sorry lads...still write more blogs than most guys here, but last two weeks have been stupid crazy for me. Should be back to normal. I am, and have been however, a legitimate follower of the Flames for 20 years now.

Cheers.

So far it looks like only Jones. Backlund still has no timeline. Colborne is getting closer... he should be the next one back. I think that's when we'll see Seto waived.
